Marie Antoinette Style comes to London:Marie Antoinette Exhibition London 2025

From September 20, 2025, the V&A Museum in London opens Marie Antoinette Style, the first UK exhibition entirely dedicated to France’s most iconic queen. With over 250 objects on display (think of sillk gowns, jewelry, and accessories once worn at Versailles) the show celebrates the queen who transformed fashion into a new language.

Some of these treasures have never left Versailles before. Visitors are welcomed into immersive rooms that evoke the royal apartments, with scenography and even olfactory installations recalling the gardens of Trianon. More than a historical showcase, Marie Antoinette Style reflects how her image shaped Rococo fashion and continues to inspire contemporary designers.

Marie Antoinette was, in many ways, the first true influencer: her style and aesthetics revolutionized fashion in her time and still resonate today.

Her figure has fascinated me ever since my first visit to Versailles, just after watching Sofia Coppola’s film, a comfort movie for me, a refuge of beauty I return to again and again often when I sketch. With its imagery of powdered faces, pastel silks, and delicate roses, it deeply shaped my visual sensibility and continues to inspire the Rococo side of my boudoir art illustrations.

Here is my personal selection of Rococo-inspired works, a small homage to our queen, Marie Antoinette:
